Not to Be Missed

Lynn Sloneker has a week's worth of important posts on her blog, Unmuffled, including the story of how several of HCSD's highly paid administrators sold unused vacation days back to the district, effectively giving themselves bonuses totaling $47,700.

  1. Contract, contract, contract. Vacation "buybacks" are part of the administrators union contract. The only good news is that you have to buy them back in the same year you don't use them. In the past, people accumulated them over many years. Some retired teachers walked away with six-figure vacation buybacks! I think we're still paying off Carol Gans (retired JLE principal) for unused vacation days, another six-figure deal.... But it's sure worth it, eh? Look at the great education our kids are getting!
