Goodbye, Happy Clown
The Happy Clown closed on Friday--unexpectedly early, since they had announced they would remain open through Sunday, August 14. The iconic red-and-white striped building--a favorite destination for frozen custard--will be bulldozed in September to make way for a Hannaford's supermarket. W. T. Eckert has the story in today's Register-Star: "No joke: Happy Clown closes down."
I was there on Thursday, and was told that they'd be closing Sunday "or until the ice cream runs out." Guess it ran out sooner than expected.
