What to Do, What to Do . . . Tonight

In the mid-1990s, a realtor was asked by a prospective home buyer what people did in Hudson at night. After considering the question only briefly, the realtor answered brightly, "We go to meetings!"

For those Hudsonians who still think nothing rivals the entertainment value of a good meeting, there are three this evening, and it may be hard to decide which to attend.

At 6:30 p.m., Acres Co-op Market holds its third informational meeting. Tonight's meeting features Nate Horowitz, membership director at the Honest Weight Co-op in Albany, speaking on the topic, "What Is Co-op Membership and How Does It Work?" The meeting takes place at Christ Church Episcopal Parish Hall, 431 Union Street.

At 7:00 p.m., the Hudson Planning Commission holds its regular monthly meeting at City Hall. The Planning Commission is usually the first place to learn about new projects being considered in Hudson, and there's always the chance that Holcim/O&G might show up requesting a site plan review for the Hudson segment of their proposed haul road from the quarry to the dock.

At 7:30 p.m., the Columbia County Board of Supervisors meets at 401 State Street. It is expected that they will vote tonight on a resolution authorizing the purchase of the abandoned Walmart building in Greenport for reuse as a county office building.

For Hudsonians who define entertainment in a more conventional way, there's the Hudson. Water. Music. concert, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Henry Hudson Riverfront Park.
